We were awake at 4:00 am to get ready for our ride to the Buffalo Airport for the start of our trip. Thanks to friends Alfred and Lise for getting up early and delivering us to Buffalo! Thankfully there was no snow and we had an uneventful drive.
The first leg of the flight (to Phoenix AZ) was on time and we managed to get a bit of sleep on the plane.
We had a bit of an extended layover as our flight to San Francisco was delayed for an hour due to an equipment malfunction. They finally got underway and managed to make up some time and we arrived in San Francisco by 2:00 pm. Our rental car ended up being a VW Beetle. I think I am one of the few males in North America ever to drive one of these. They probably gave us the Beetle because the rentals in Chris's name. The temperature was a pleasant 60F with sunny skies.
We were late enough to get into the late afternoon rush hour and didn't arrive at Jim & Sharon's place in Sonoma until around 4:30 pm. We had a lovely supper and some wine and got to bed early to try to recover from the early morning and the jet lag.

I'm all signed up and awaiting your updates. We will look forward to the pictures as always. Have a wonderful adventure.
