Our B&B host told us about the original bungy jump at the Kawarau Suspension Bridge. We went there first, not expecting to see much action as it was cool and overcast. The place was packed with jumpers and they had great viewing platforms to watch the action. About 10 - 15 jumpers per hour at $195/jump plus $80 for the photos/videos. What a money machine!
There goes Chris.....
Valentines day brought out some themed jumpers. Wonder what sort of bet he lost.....
Here is the best jump we saw, a bearded fellow in a red dress??
Chris declined a jump as a Valentines Day present claiming it would mess up her hair.
Saw another Wicked Camper Van....
As an alternative, we continued on to Arrowtown and rented some mountain bikes to ride the Queenston Trail which was supposed to be an easy ride. Three km in on the ride, Chris wiped out on a downhill hairpin. After the bleeding stopped, she got back on the bike and cautiously continued on our 25 km trail ride that included crossing three suspension bridges each way. Beautiful scenery for riding.
Pinot Noir in the valleys....
We had a walk around Arrowtown, a really cute little town.
On our way back to Queenstown, we noticed a bunch of hang gliders. Again, rejection for a Valentines Day activity.
We drove through town to a scenic overlook of the lake and the Remarkables in the background.
Back to the B&B for a shower and than downtown for supper. Pizza night tonight at a really nice Italian place in the Queenston Mall in the heart of downtown. Its Chinese New Year and the place is teaming with Asians.
