Queenstown Hiking

This morning we took the Skyline Gondola up the mountain in Queenstown to get an easier start to the Ben Lomond Track. The gondola eliminates the very steep first part of this trail. The Skyline Centre is a multi- activity centre. There is a downhill mountain bike track from the top of the gondola run, bungy jump into the forest, luge rides, parasailing and a nice restaurant.

The Ben Lomond Track is a constant uphill climb with the option to stop at "the saddle" or continue on for another hour of very steep climbing to the summit. We did the 5 km hike up to the saddle and stopped there to enjoy the views. A beautiful clear day.

Monte the Moose enjoyed the fresh mountain air.

Another 5 km of downhill and we were back to the gondola where we stopped to watch the people sliding on the luge and the parasailers take off over the town.

We saw a couple of fellows who have original Indian motorcycles from the 1930's and have ridden throughout North America and Oceania.

We ended up walking around downtown and finding a nice pub with a happy hour for a cold drink.

We were hungry after the day's outing so decided to have dinner before returning to the B&B to relax for the evening.
