What a great spot. Glad we booked four nights here. Here is the view from where we have breakfast.
The views around town are stunning and the town is hopping all day. Here is a link to a time lapse video of sunrise I recorded with the camera clamped to our balcony railing.

Today we started out downtown walking the streets in search of some souvenir T-shirts. Lots of tourist, clothing and outdoors shops. You would really want to make sure you have purchased all of your gear before you come here as everything seems to sell at a 25% - 75% premium over North American prices.
I went to get a haircut but declined after being quoted $45.
Today was golf day. We booked a tee time at Arrowtown Golf Club, about 20 minutes out of town. The views were fantastic. The golf course was in excellent condition but with very narrow fairways and small greens. The fellow at the golf shop in town called it "Narrowtown". It made for a challenging day having not swung a club for three months and using rented equipment. None the less, we had a good time. We got 18 holes done in less than four hours.
Note the golfer friendly wide fairway...
Finding the landing zone was like playing "Where's Waldo?"
We were near the Gibbston Valley Wine Region so we stopped at a couple of wineries on our way home to sample some Pinot Noir.
The first winery was Peregrine and it had a stunning new cellar along with some old buildings that had been preserved from the original sheep ranch.
This used to be the shearing barn and is now a special events building for weddings etc.
After that, we stopped at The Remarkables Winery in an old stable.
This was an interesting experience. We showed up near closing time and were just starting our sampling flight when the police showed up. Apparently there had been a dispute between the owner of the winery and the owner of the adjacent country tavern. While the police were interviewing the owner, he delegated his buddy who we think had been oversampling the product to look after us. Quite an interesting fellow, used to play rugby for the All Blacks back in the late 60's. We found out he played a match at the Montreal Olympic Stadium in 1967. We had some generous samples and they were still trying to sort out the police issue when we left.
We were pretty hungry by now and had a brief stop in at the B&B before heading downtown for some delicious Thai food for supper. The sun was setting on the way home so we stopped just outside our B&B for a panorama photo op. This area is known as the land of the long white cloud and now I know why.
As I was writing the blog, I looked out the window and noticed this great scene of the sunset playing on the clouds.
